Hi everyone,
Wishing you a happy new year. Whatever 2025 shapes up to be, I hope you enjoy it!
I started the year a little quieter than normal. December was extremely busy. Then I had a cold from Christmas Day onward (clearing up now) and some of my family were unwell over the festive period. This is not all to say woe is me. We definitely managed to find smile time, but it is safe to say I have learned to appreciate the need to step back at times and allow time for much needed rest and relaxation (self-care in general). It’s also why I don’t have many pics for this blog (other than Christmas and cats!).
I hope those of you who received ‘Fyn Carter and the Agents of Eromlos’ for Christmas are looking forward to starting the adventure. I am excited to know this applies to a lot of you!

Fyn 2 updates
I’ve received the editorial report for ‘Fyn Carter and the Legends from Atlantis’ (sequel in progress), and I’ve met my editor to discuss it. I’ve also received some more beta reader feedback. Things are looking positive, and I am in the process of working through the comments to make Fyn 2 the strongest I can. It’s not just about making necessary changes (grammatically etc.) and tightening the story, but it also means I need to make decisions about what I think ultimately works best for the plot and the characters. I absolutely want to get it right.
I am glad to say things are still on track for a Spring 2025 release, but with the amount of work that will be involved (including editing, formatting, cover tweaks, proofs, promo planning etc.), I am not quite at a point of putting a more specific release date out there yet. I know when I hope the book can be released so will keep fingers crossed. It won’t be much longer until I can share more!
‘The Monster Project’ (title to be announced)
I’m hoping to release a standalone novel (completely separate to Fyn Carter) later this year. I’m already into editing stage because I’ve been working on it for some time. I generally work on it when things with Fyn are elsewhere – for example, I recently revisited it while Fyn 2 was with the editor. It’s still an adventure story, but it’s also spooky and with a more serious ‘life drama’ sort of tone to it. We will see how it shapes up!

2025 events
In other news, I’ve updated the events tab here on my website for 2025. Like last year, this will include some markets and large Comic Cons, but this year I will also take on some smaller city Comic Cons as well. Feel free to have a look at what’s planned so far, and if you want to attend any of them, I’ll happily sign a book 😊
Fyn 1 available in Southampton libraries!
This week, six copies of ‘Fyn Carter and the Agents of Eromlos’ have been made available to borrow across various libraries in Southampton. This is really exciting because it means it’s available to so many more readers. It’s also available in Bitterne Library (which is the library I could often be found at as a child) which makes me really happy. Please feel free to literally check it out if you’re in the area! You can see details online here.
I’ll write another blog in February. Until then, thanks for reading, and enjoy your January!
Ian x
