July’s news

Hello!

I don’t know where the last month went, but I hope it was good for you! I’ll keep this update quite brief (as there isn’t a huge amount to report on), but lots of exciting things are in the pipeline for future updates.

Events

I’d only scheduled in one event for July which was a craft and gift market last weekend. I always find it hard to predict how an event will go. This one was smaller than some others I’ve done (in terms of number of traders), but it was very successful! Thank you to everyone who came along, had a chat, and purchased a book or two! I really hope you enjoy Fyn’s adventures. It makes me really happy when I see people excited for reading in general – more so when it’s excitement to read Fyn Carter!

In August I have three events scheduled. I’ll be firming up details for other events later in the year over the coming weeks. As always, you can see up-to-date listings here. Is there an event near you (for those of you in the UK) you’d like me to be involved in? If so, let me know.

‘Project Monster’ (title TBA)

My next book, ‘Project Monster’, is currently with my editor. It’s always quite scary sending work at this stage (but necessary), because I’ve no idea what feedback I’ll receive. Feedback from beta readers has been really positive, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.

The release time frame depends on how much work I’ll have to do following receipt of the editorial feedback. That said, I’ve already decided on the title, designed the book cover, and ordered an unedited/unformatted proof to see what the cover looks like in print. I’m hopeful to share firmer details soon. Did you see my early artwork teaser on Instagram earlier this week?:

Reviews

Big thanks to everyone that’s enjoyed Fyn Carter enough to leave positive reviews online recommending the books to others. It makes a difference in helping me seem like a credible author (which I hope I am!). Reviews don’t always need to be wordy. Some places simply accept star ratings. As well as leaving reviews/star ratings in places online like Waterstones, Barnes & Noble, Foyles, and Amazon, it’s also possible to leave them on book review/organisation sites like GoodReads, StoryGraph, and Fable. If you haven’t left a review online yet, please consider doing so 🙂 Luna is watching you! Ps – Luna was actually giving love eyes here, but it came out differently in the photo!

I think that’s about it for now. Thanks for following my journey. If there’s anything you’d like me to speak about in future blogs etc. or you have questions about my process and author journey, please let me know.

All the best.

Ian x
