The Shoe Creeper – Launch day!

Hello there!

I hope things are good where you are. Today is a VERY exciting day for me, because today is the release date for The Shoe Creeper! Here is a big cheesy picture to celebrate!

I am so excited to share my third book with you. It’s still upper MG (middle grade) – aimed at readers aged 9+, but it’s absolutely something adults can enjoy too! It’s horror rather than sci-fi (so it is different to the vibes of the Fyn Carter books), but don’t worry – it still has plenty of adventure and heart!

A lot has happened since revealing the details in my last blog…

If you love MG spooky stories, you may be a fan of the amazing Phil Hickes (who wrote the Aveline Jones and Shadowhall Academy books and is releasing The Last Day of October soon). Phil very kindly read an ARC (advanced reader copy) of The Shoe Creeper and gave me an absolutely awesome quote to use. I still can’t quite believe it, but it is:

‘Like Patrick Ness and Roald Dahl got together to write a spooky story’.

This means so much. I love Phil Hickes’ books. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness is one of my favourite books, and The Shoe Creeper is partly influenced by the fun but darker vibes of some of Roald Dahl’s creations. In fact, chapter one of The Shoe Creeper is quite inspired by the relationship with the grandmother and boy in The Witches!

Phil actually gave me a few quotes to chose from, and here is another…

When you consider that the very lovely Jenny Moore gave me a fab quote for the first Fyn Carter book, I am just feeling really lucky and grateful!

Availability

The Shoe Creeper is now available worldwide in paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon. UK and US links:

Amazon paperback UK
Amazon eBook UK (Kindle and Kindle Unlimited)
Amazon paperback US
Amazon eBook US (Kindle and Kindle Unlimited)

‘Wider distribution’ has been enabled, so The Shoe Creeper will soon be available via the online stores for Waterstones, Foyles, Browns Books, Barnes & Noble etc. At that point, shops, schools, and libraries should be able to see it on their systems and be able to order it in. If you’re happy and willing to request that, please do – especially with schools and libraries. Reaching new readers is always a challenge, and something like that would really help!

Audiobook

The Shoe Creeper audiobook is in development! Actor and voiceover expert Max Dowler has been busy recording it, and I’m looking forward to sharing more details soon. Max brings the characters to life in a really fun way, and even though the story is darker in places, I’ve laughed out loud many times listening to him read it. It’s truly a whole different experience, and I hope you’ll love it too.

How you can support

It is only day one for The Shoe Creeper, but, as with the Fyn Carter books, other than buying the book (please do! :-D), reviews make a big difference. Not only do they help to provide credibility for the books and me as an author, but they also show that people are interested enough in my books to read them. I am always extremely grateful for the support and excitement that people have for my author journey, but reviews, word of mouth, and recommendations in general are often key. Whatever you are happy to do, I am just grateful that you are here for the journey, so please accept my sincere thanks!

Blog/review tour

Starting next week, The Shoe Creeper has its own blog/review tour. If you follow the lovely, bookish accounts listed below, they will be sharing a blog/review on their allocated days. You can join me in seeing what people think of the book! Eek!

Thank you so much for reading. Please do check out The Shoe Creeper. If it’s not for you, it might be for someone else you know, so please spread the word!

Until next time, and thanks again!

Ian x
