Hi all. I hope things are good with you. Today is the 31st October, and so we’ve reached Halloween and the peak of the spooky season, but that doesn’t mean the fun ends for my newest novel, The Shoe Creeper which can still be enjoyed at any time!

I’m thrilled that The Shoe Creeper audiobook was released this week, and it’s available now on Audible, Amazon, and Apple Books. If you are interested in signing up as a member of Audible, there are some links on my ‘Shop‘ page, but please note these are affiliate links which means if you choose to use them and buy The Shoe Creeper, there is a chance I may receive commission (at no extra cost to you).
Thank you

Thank you, everyone who has joined in the fun throughout October! Whether it was reading the book in ‘real time’ with my read-along calendar, sending me photos of shoes you’ve actually seen on the side of the road (I LOVE THIS!), or generally sharing your enthusiasm for the book, I am super grateful! Here are some of the highlights from October:
The Blog/Review Tour!
I really enjoyed the Blog/Review Tour – this was the biggest one yet with eleven reviewers, and I discovered what they thought at the same time as everyone else! Some of my favourite comments (a few with links to the blogs) are:
Kate at ‘Scope for Imagination’ – A fantastic story about cross-generational relationships, dealing with change and making sense of traditional tales
Helen Byles at ‘SarahReads’ – A creepy, spooky mystery that will pull on your heartstrings.
Mary at ‘Book Craic’ – A superbly dark, spine-tingling horror adventure
Ellie – @missg_primaryteacher on Instagram – Read this in one go which is always a sign of a brilliant book!
Erin Hamilton at ‘My Shelves are Full’ – A fantastic book for middle grade readers!
MCM Comic Con London

Last weekend was MCM Comic Con London, and, as always, it was a fun event! It’s always a learning curve, but one that I greatly value. I was really happy that some familiar faces came along to say hi and pick up new books – it’s always a lovely thing when someone has finished a book and enjoyed it enough to champion it and try another, plus I really enjoy chatting with book lovers and hearing about your experiences at the Comic Con!
I am only going to be at three more events this year (London Comic Con Winter, MCM Comic Con Birmingham, and a craft and gift market), so please do come by for a chat and consider my books if you’re there.
Going forward

Regular readers of my blog will know I’m always trying to maintain some level of balance, but it usually goes off a bit in the period around a book launch. It’s been a strange year. With Fyn Carter and the Legends from Atlantis, I knew I wanted it to release in May. With The Shoe Creeper, I knew I was aiming for pre-Halloween. Going forward, I have no set deadlines.
I’ve spent a bit of time trying to catch up on my admin. I’ve completely cleared my office space so it’s more inviting. Essentially, what I’m doing is ensuring that when I sit down to work on my next book, I have fewer mental distractions. I’ve already dug out my Fyn Carter series notes and made a few updates, but in the next couple of weeks I will be starting a deep dive into the entire rest of the series. I already know where I’m going with it, but I want a plan, so I don’t make it unnecessarily challenging on the way. I’m expecting to start writing Fyn Carter 3 very soon! Also – I’ve had some lovely messages from people who recently finished reading Fyn Carter 2. Thank you, again 🙂
I’ll leave it here for now. Thank you for reading.
Ian x
PS – That other season is on the horizon. It would be awesome if you could keep my books in mind for this…
