Hi,
Ian here. I hope you are well. This will be my last blog of the year. It’s a busy time for most of us, and as well as wrapping up work, I hope we’ll all be trying to fit in some time to relax.
I’ll keep things fairly brief, but here are the updates!

Events
I’ve had some big comic con events over the last few weeks. London Comic Con Winter (which combines with YALC) was a lot of fun, but those of you who follow me on social media may have seen that another event (as enjoyable as it was) wasn’t successful for me in terms of sales – in fact, I took a big loss on it. It’s always hard to predict how an event will go. They can be impacted by all sorts of things – weather, table location, audience on the day, whether there is another event on in the area etc.
I am always grateful for the position I’m in and believe success is about more than sales, but I also want to be honest about the experience because people sometimes assume that cheery posts mean sales, and that’s not always the case. Being an indie author can be a hard gig (especially trying to reach readers who are children), and I know I appreciate it when I see other authors sharing that it’s not always easy. It definitely helps to battle imposter syndrome!
I have three more events scheduled in for the year as per my Events page. I have a good feeling about them all as they’re festive, so fingers crossed! Next year, I’ll be taking what I’ve learned so far and using that to shape my approach for events going forward. I’ll update when I know more…

The Shoe Creeper
Thank you, again, for the positive responses and reviews which I’m continuing to receive for The Shoe Creeper. I’m loving that people are enjoying it, and it really amuses me when I’m sent pictures of random shoes people have seen out and about. In case you missed it, the audiobook is also now available on Audible, Amazon, and Apple Books!
Fyn Carter
I’m officially back to working on the Fyn Carter series. I’ve recently read the first two books for the first time since they were published (to get my head back into the world and characters). I spent a week on a writing retreat with some amazing writing friends and revisited my old notes. I’ve now started shaping out content for Fyn Carter 3 (title tbc) while getting deeper into plans for the rest of the series. I’ll be starting new words soon and am really looking forward to it! Things are going to be quite different in Fyn 3… Those of you who have finished the second book will know what I mean!

The coming months
If you celebrate Christmas, it would be great if you could please consider my books for readers and lovers of adventure etc. They’re available to order from many online bookshops, although some of them currently list a 2-week waiting time so Amazon is likely the fastest option. Links to various sites can be found on my Shop page.
Unfortunately, the printer of my books (outside of Amazon) announced yesterday they will be implementing a price increase on 1st February 2026. This is their second price increase in ten months, and they are not the only thing which is becoming a cost challenge for me. This means I may need to increase my prices in the coming months. I’ve been trying to hold out on doing this and will try to work around it, but this also means now might be a good time to buy my books in general.
Wrapping up
That’s all the business bits done. This blog was a bit more serious at times than I’d intended! I’ll finish by simply saying a heartfelt and sincere thanks for your interest and support in my author journey. It makes a big difference, and I love having you along for the ride. Have an amazing rest of the year however you spend it, and I wish you a fantastic 2026!
Best wishes!
Ian x
