Mini updates

Hello readers,

I hope you’re doing well and made it through the bazonkers heat unscathed. As you can see in the pic above, I had fun with a social media video. I certainly won’t rush to grab a scarf again anytime soon! Anyway… Have you grabbed yourself a drink and a snack? Let’s go!

Fyn Carter and the Might of the Masters (aka Fyn Carter 3)

As per last month’s update, I was aiming to write a lot of words in June as part of a writing challenge. I ended up writing on ten days out of the 22 available (didn’t do weekends) and achieved 12,541 words.

For reference, I achieved 17,031 words between the end of January and the end of May (but was working slower then due to circumstances) so this is a big improvement. The writing challenge with friends has carried over into July, so I’m looking forward to making more progress this month.

The Shoe Creeper is now part of the all-you-can listen catalogue on Audible

If you have Audible and the premium membership, they offer access to over 15k audiobooks and podcasts as part of their all-you-can listen catalogue. The Shoe Creeper is now part of this, so please check it out 😊

If you don’t have Audible but are interested in it, I have links on my Shop page. Note that if you do sign up via the ones mentioned there, some are affiliate links which means I may earn commission (at no extra cost to you).

Events

I booked more events for the second half of this year than the first half, so things are about to build up! This month is looking like this:

Friday 10th July: Summer Fete at a primary & nursery school in Southampton
Saturday 11th July: Craft & Gift Market at Guildford Guildhall

Reviews

Someone asked me this week if reviews really make that much of a difference. The answer is a whopping big YES! Reviews are classed as social proofing. The higher the number of positive reviews something receives, the more likely someone is to give it a go.

If you’ve read or listened to my books and not left reviews, please, please do so. On Amazon, Fyn Carter and the Agents of Eromlos and Fyn Carter and the Legends from Atlantis combined, have received less than five reviews this year. On the other hand, in that time, The Shoe Creeper has received around eight (and a few on Audible).

If you’ve left a review in the past, would it be okay to please check that it’s visible? If you didn’t buy via Amazon, they might not publish a review because it’s not a ‘verified purchase’. To help with this, you can take a pic of the book to upload with the review or note that you bought it at an event etc. Thanks again.

Otherwise, this last month has included work on the book cover for Fyn 3, proofreading a book for a friend, sorting my office, and doing some freelance book formatting (plus doing my best to stay cool!).

That’s all for this month! Thanks for reading. Stay well, cool, and happy.

Ian x
